WebMar 13, 2007 · You might need to get a kit to do that if it has the electronic 4x4 that you turn the **** on the dash for. Or, you could pull the rear drive shaft and make sure it is not in 4x4. I wouldn't think you'd need to pull the front as well unless you have all time all wheel drive on there. I don't think they even offer that system on the F250.

The 4WD models can shift the transfer case into neutral which prevents transmission damage. You'd have to remove the driveshaft of a 2WD model to achieve the same effect. Or you can tow a tralier with your F150 in it?
