If you can find a machine shop that uses an oven and steel shot blaster to clean cast iron, that makes it look like new. After that is done I take brake clean and paper towels and wipe the cylinder walls down repeatedly until I see nothing on the paper towel at all, and then hit the cridical areas up with some oil or MPL. Web27 feb. 2008 · if you are disassembling your block too then go ahead and clean it really well then spray it down with wd-40. let it sit for a couple of hours then cover it with a bag (a little thicker than a trash bag) and make sure that it's wrapped tight.
